Sunnybrae Term 4 Week 2 reminders

23/10/2017

Term 4 Week 2 - Reminders and notices for the week beginning 24 October … This week we have attached a newsletter from the Health curriculum team, led by Wendy Frazer. Thanks to Wendy and curriculum team members Geeta Naran, Eva Roding, Anita Knight and Leanne Barlow for preparing this update. At the end of this newsletter there is a feedback response form for you to complete re our Health programmes. It asks you whether you agree that the 2017 Health programmes have been relevant to the learning needs of your child/children and whether you would like to see less or more emphasis on something else not currently being taught. Thank you for taking the time to respond to this - please return the form or email your response to the school office - office@sunnybrae.school.nz by Monday 6 November. All curriculum updates are available from our website – http://www.sunnybrae.school.nz/why-choose-us.html (scroll to the bottom of this webpage to view them). Our Art Exhibition is being held tomorrow and Thursday. You are welcome to come along to the hall to see this during school hours and up to 6 pm each afternoon. Class photos were taken last Thursday. If you did not prepay for one and would like to have one, please contact Photolife directly on 262 1040. Security Gate - as from this week you will notice that during the hours 9 am – 3 pm there will be a closed security gate across our school driveway. If you need to bring your car into the school grounds during these hours you will need to push the button on the security pad (you can do this without getting out of your car) – this will alert the office to open the gate. When you exit the school the gate will automatically open as you approach it and close behind you. Last week we received the sad news that Warwick Goldsworthy had passed away. Warwick was a grandfather who was the primary caregiver to one of our students and he was well known to a number of our parents. The care and support of some of our parents was acknowledged in the death notice, which read as follows: GOLDSWORTHY, Warwick David. Passed away on 14th October 2017. Dearly loved brother of Ali, loved Uncle of Mark, Julie and Blair and Great Uncle of Maddie. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. The family would like to thank the mothers at Sunnybrae Normal School for their loving support and care you showed to Warwick and Shaye. Special thanks to the parents and caregivers from our community who have supported Warwick and his granddaughter Shaye at this difficult time. Ngā mihi nui Jennie Stewart (Principal)
