Term 4 Week 4 - Reminders and notices for the week beginning 6 November … This week we have attached a newsletter from the Arts curriculum team, led by Anna Blair and Helen Lamberton. Thanks to Helen, Anna and curriculum team members Leanne Barlow, Bronwyn Babbage and Eva Roding for their contributions to this update. All curriculum updates are available from our website – http://www.sunnybrae.school.nz/why-choose-us.html (scroll to the bottom of this webpage to view them). A meeting for prospective parents is being held this Wednesday at 9.30 am in our staffroom. Please let anyone know who you think would be interested. A full school assembly is being held this Friday 10 November starting at 2.15 pm in the hall; all welcome. Rooms 1, 3 and 9 will host the Assembly and the 1st year and advanced recorder groups will perform. On Monday 13 November our Years 3 – 6 students will be participating in our school’s athletics day and you are all welcome to come along and watch. The programme is as follows: 11 am – 12.30 pm: Y3 & 4 sprints and Y5 & 6 long jump, high jump, discus, shot put 1.30 pm – 2.30 pm: Y3 & 4 long jump, high jump, discus, shot put and Y5 & 6 sprints 2.35 pm: Finals Use of the school pool during the summer - each year our Board of Trustees gives parents the opportunity to hire a key for the time that our pool is open (i.e. from early December to the last weekend in March). The cost of hiring a key is $120 ($25 of this is refunded when the key is returned at the end of the season). Please note that the keys are available only to families currently at the school. In order to have a key issued the following steps need to be taken: - Please let the office know in advance that you intend to do this. This can be done by calling into the office or emailing the office: office@sunnybrae.school.nz. - A laminated card will be made to attach to the key issued with a photo of the eldest child in the family, the family name and the key number. This will make it easier to check that people using the pool are actually authorised to do so. - The pool key will be issued once payment has been received, and the guidelines have been read and signed by the person to whom the key is issued. Keys will not be issued to children on behalf of their parents. Weekend Sausage Sizzle - the PTA has organised a sausage sizzle at Mitre 10 Mega, Glenfield for Sunday 19 November between 10.00am and 3.00pm. We are looking for people to help serve and cook sausages between 10-12.30pm or 12.30-3.00pm. If you think you may be able to help, please contact Freddie Bess on 021 774 311. Ngā mihi nui Jennie Stewart (Principal)
