19/11/2017

Term 4 Week 6 - Reminders and notices for the week beginning 20 November … This week we have attached a newsletter from the Social Studies and Environmental Studies curriculum team, led by Barbara Shepheard and Anita Knight. Thanks to Barbara, Anita and curriculum team member Carolyn Hutton for their contributions to this update. All curriculum updates are available from our website – http://www.sunnybrae.school.nz/why-choose-us.html (scroll to the bottom of this webpage to view them). The Senior Festival Choir is performing tomorrow night at the Auckland Town Hall. Last Thursday all choir members should have brought home a programme and a letter with full information about this. Please call the office if you did not receive this and we will send another one home. School Pool The pool is now ready for class swimming lessons, which will commence before the end of this term; teachers will let you know when their classes will start. Students will be allowed to use the pool this week at lunch times only; these sessions will be supervised by duty teachers. Use of the school pool during the summer - each year our Board of Trustees gives parents the opportunity to hire a key for the time that our pool is open (i.e. from early December to the last weekend in March). The cost of hiring a key is $120 ($25 of this is refunded when the key is returned at the end of the season). Please note that the keys are available only to families currently at the school. In order to have a key issued the following steps need to be taken: - Please let the office know in advance that you intend to do this. This can be done by calling into the office or emailing the office: office@sunnybrae.school.nz. - A laminated card will be made to attach to the key issued with a photo of the eldest child in the family, the family name and the key number. This will make it easier to check that people using the pool are actually authorised to do so. - The pool key will be issued once payment has been received, and the guidelines have been read and signed by the person to whom the key is issued. Keys will not be issued to children on behalf of their parents. Ngā mihi nui Jennie Stewart (Principal) Community Notice Rewild the Child – the Great Outdoors presentation on connecting children to nature, is being given at The Parenting Place, 300 Great South Road, Greenlane on Saturday 25th November from 2 – 4.30 pm.
